How about an update, since CCP seems to be ignoring the hell out of the official thread?
You guys talking with the CPM is great and all, but we're not the CPM. |

The game has turned into Explosions 514 because nobody can aim. When you can't aim, AoE weapons and movement reign supreme. Those are the paths of least resistance, and thats why everyone is taking them. |

No doubt someone can shed some light on the subject.
A handful of people complained about KB/M being too good and they took it as a sign that it needed balancing when it did not (people should always be held responsible for their choice of control method, and no control type is ever balanced). Because of this, someone at the office came up with the brilliant idea of forcing KB/M users to share a "virtual analog" with DS3 users instead of getting raw mouse input -- which they need.
When making the jump to the new emulator they had to change the way the core analog system itself worked to make it "balanced" and in so doing, they ended up breaking it for both controller and KB/M users. To compound this problem, the introduction of new shaders coupled with poor optimization and memory leaks resulted in severe input delay after the first ten minutes of play, making a bad control scheme even worse.
There are numerous other things they screwed up on as well, such as the sensitivities being shared, values not set correctly, not saving correctly, mouse smoothing being broken (not to mention pointless with lack of raw input), and bunch of other small issues that make up the perfect storm of "Explosions 514: LLAV Edition".
But back to the original question, WHY did they do it? Because like most developers, someone saw a problem that didn't exist, and decided to fix what wasn't broken. The game being a complete joke for the last three months is the result of that blunder. |

Depending on the number of objects on the map, input delay increases substantially. If you are playing against halfways skilled opponents they will be strafing a lot, and the input delay will not allow you to keep up with them at all. |

You guys talking with the CPM is great and all, but we're not the CPM. You talk to CPM, CPM then talks to CCP. This is how representation works. Take up your ideas with CPM if you feel CCP is not listening - it's what they signed up for.
CPM has talked to CCP about this issue multiple times now during the last few months. No tangible information has been returned to the public other than "it's really difficult to fix and stuff, but cheer up buttercup the fix is coming eventually lol".
This is an important issue and its the underlying reason we can't really combat things like flaylock spam and DDR strafing. The longer this problem takes to fix, the more this game is going to become balanced around the idea that nobody can aim worth a damn. That's going to hurt it a lot in the long run.
Oh, also, it's MISERABLE to play at high level. |
